Spring 2021, Issue 49-3

The Spring 2021 issue of the Star of the North has a fresh new look and feel. Many thanks to our web editor, Dariush Akhavan, for his work in giving us a more modern and clean layout to the Star of the North.

Our three issues this year have focused on Diversity (Fall), Equity (Winter), and Inclusion (Spring). The Voices From the District articles authored by Mary Ebanks and Michel Jeffery focus on inclusion from the perspective of two outstanding educators. The Commissioning Corner article promotes the work of Minnesota composers as they focus their thoughts on accessibility and inclusion. The Guest Feature article puts a spotlight on VocalEssence’s cross-cultural exchange program ¡Cantaré! Make sure you check out the extensive “Teacher Resource Guide” found within this article.

The Legacy article, authored by Bret Amundson, pays tribute to the legacy of Axel Theimer who is retiring this Spring after faithfully serving for 52 years on the faculty of the College of St. Benedict & St. John’s University. The Star Program features the long and rich history of the Minnesota Boychoir, who under the leadership of Mark Johnson, has become a model organization for young voices. The Scholarship Sketches that are awarded through the FMC Endowment Fund along with the popular Pick Six and Inside ACDA-MN articles are all here to give you relevant and resourceful information.

On behalf of the Star of the North editorial team, we would like to thank you for your continued readership. We have much to celebrate and look forward to on the near horizon. Thank you for your efforts to include everyone.
