Dr. Gerald Gurss is Artistic Director of the Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus. A native of Kansas, he received his bachelor’s degree in Voice from Emporia State University. Dr. Gurss went on to earn a master’s degree from Miami University, and a doctorate from the University of South Carolina, where he wrote a dissertation focusing on the inclusion and pedagogy of transgender singers in the choral rehearsal. For over a decade, Dr. Gurss has worked with GALA choruses (Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses) from the east coast to the Midwest. In addition to his work with the TCGMC, Dr. Gurss is also the director of traditional music at White Bear Lake United Methodist Church.
