
George R. Berglund

George R. Berglund, 79, of Burnsville, MN passed away unexpectedly January 12th at M Health Fairview Ridges Hospital. Born in Warroad, MN February 22, 1942, he was preceded in death by parents George and Lucile, wife Carol and sister Peg Green, and is survived by brother Bob (Laurie), stepchildren Kathy (Bill) Cook and Brian (Tanya) Schaper and their children, brother-in-law Bob Green and his children.
George’s passion was choral music. He had degrees from Concordia College-Moorhead and the University of Illinois-Champaign and taught music at schools in West Fargo, ND, Davenport, IA, Hutchinson, MN and around the Twin Cities. George sang with the Dale Warland Singers, the Minnesota Chorale, Minnetonka Choral Society, created the touring Hutchinson Family Singers tribute ensemble, and was choir director at Golden Valley Lutheran Church for 18 years. He composed choral music and taught private piano and voice lessons. But he also took great pride in the success of the Warroad Warriors high school hockey teams.
The memorial service was held at Central Lutheran Church in downtown Minneapolis on March 24th. Memorials may be made to the American Choral Directors Association of Minnesota-FMC Endowment Fund.
