2023 ACDA Regional Conference – Omaha, NE

  • Carl Clomon – Walker West Music Academy, Mount Olivet Baptist Church – St. Paul, MN
  • Danny Thompson – Concordia University – St. Paul, MN (BME)

Thank you for the generous scholarship to attend the regional conference of ACDA in February 2024. The opportunity and experience were invaluable to me. I gained important knowledge and made lasting connections through networking with the awesome delegates from around the region. Having the good fortune to present a master class on the usage of music to heal the community was the highlight of my week. The attendees of the session presented by Dr. David Mennicke and I were very receptive and attentive. My hope is that I will attend the conference annually going forward.

When did you make your first donation to ACDA-MN?

I have been an ACDA member since 1978 and an FMCEndowment donor for over 20 years.

Why is it so important for you to contribute to ACDA-MN?

We have all experienced the transformative power of choral music and the invaluable role it plays in shaping individuals’ lives. My personal journey in choral music has been deeply meaningful and has greatly influenced who I am today. By contributing to ACDA-MN, I have the opportunity to give something back and to support the next generation of choral musicians – both singers and conductors. Scholarships provided through ACDA-MN can open doors for aspiring musicians, allowing them to experience the joy, discipline, and camaraderie that choral music offers. ACDA-MN is here to support the community that values and champions choral music education, ensuring that others can benefit from the same enriching experiences that have meant so much to me.

What is one part of ACDA-MN’s future that excites you?

It’s exciting to see ACDA-MN’s commitment to adapt and evolve in response to the changing needs of its members. With this changing landscape of choral music in our communities and in our classrooms, it is crucial for organizations like ACDA-MN to stay relevant and innovative in their approach to supporting music educators, directors, and singers. Based on its forward looking vision, I know that ACDA-MN will continue to be a valuable resource and a leader for the advancement of choral music in Minnesota.
