About Teresa Ashworth

Teresa Ashworth is Director of Choral Activities at the Minnesota State Community and Technical College on the Fergus Falls campus, where she began her tenure in 1997. Prior to teaching at the college, she was Director of Choral Music at the Fergus Falls High School. Teresa earned a BFA degree from the University of South Dakota and her Masters Degree of Education with a music emphasis at North Dakota State University. She is a member of Minnesota Music Educators Association and has served as Region 8AA representative for this organization as well as assistant director of MMEA All-State Choir. Teresa is a member and has served as NW District Chair of the American Choral Directors Association and is currently the state Repertoire and Standards Chair for two-year colleges. Teresa is active as a guest conductor and adjudicator in the North Dakota and the northern Minnesota area. Teresa directs the M State Concert Choir, the select Voice Ensemble, and the community based M State Chamber Chorale. Her academic post includes teaching voice lessons and Director of Music for students majoring in music. This spring, eight students from the M State Concert Choir auditioned and traveled to perform in the ACDA National College Honor Choir in Salt Lake City, Utah. The M State Concert Choir represented the Two-Year Community College Choirs in performances at the state ACDA of MN convention in St. Cloud in 2001 and Wayzata, 2002. The M State Choirs have performed in New York City at Carnegie Hall in 1999, 2005 and 2014 and at the University of Hawaii and Kamehameha Schools in Honolulu in 2003. Teresa and her colleagues, Roberta Freeman; Literature and Kristine Gyolai; Art have lead several humanities travel abroad tours to Italy, Greece, Ireland, and Europe.
