About Steven Albaugh

Steven Albaugh is currently the head of the choral/vocal program at Rosemount High School. Steven received his Master's Degree in Choral Conducting from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona and his Bachelor of Music degree in Choral Music Education from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. A native Iowan in his 29th year of teaching, he has held teaching and conducting positions in schools and churches in Center Point and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as well as his first Minnesota positions at Eagan High School and Shepherd of the Valley Church in Apple Valley. At Rosemount High School, Steven conducts numerous curricular and co-curricular ensembles and directs the school's annual musical revue show. Under his leadership, the choral department at Rosemount High School has doubled to over 500 students. Active in the American Choral Director’s Association in both Iowa and Minnesota, Steven is currently the Vice-President of ACDA of Minnesota, chairing the ACDA-MN Summer Dialogue in 2013 and 2014. Recently, Steven was chosen as a finalist for the 2013 Minnesota Teacher of the Year and selected as a contributor to Brothers, Sing On! Conducting the Tenor-Bass Choir published by Hal Leonard Corporation. Before moving to Minnesota, Steven was the Chairperson of the Iowa Choral Director’s Association Summer Convention. He continues to serve the choral community in numerous capacities, including serving as a member of the ACDA-MN 50th Anniversary Taskforce in charge of conceptualizing, developing, and implementing the 50th Anniversary celebration of the American Choral Directors Association of Minnesota. Steven serves as guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator for numerous choir festivals, workshops, conferences, and competitions at various academic levels. His professional affiliations include ACDA, MENC, and The Voice Care Network.
